RCONSTRUCTION BURNS SURGERY
The goal of reconstruction burns surgery is to increase the function and restore the appearance of the skin.
After complete healing of the burn. The surgeon can estimate the best method of reconstruction:
- Direct wound closure: excision of burned tissue and suture
- Flaps: using of healthy tissue near the scars to replace them, after their excisions.
- Skin graft: transfer of skin from healthy areas in the body and grafting it to excised burned tissues area
- Tissue expansion: it is the most modern method. It promotes the growth of damaged skin. Tissue expansion is accomplished by placing a balloon like expander underneath the skin near the damaged region. The expander is filled with saline water solution causing the skin around it to stretch and grow.
The stretched skin is moved to replace the burned excised skin. Results are excellent with good aesthetic appearance
- Microsurgical flaps: the skin is transferred from the donor area with its vessels, that are microscopically pointed to the recipient area vesses, assuming viability of this free flaps
